Moong Kofta Manchurian

An innovative recipe made using lentil that is healthy and tasty too.It can be a delight for vegetarian that can be called an Indian verosion of the Chinese dish.

Ingredients:-

FOR BATTER

* 1 cup Green gram / Hara Moong
* Salt
* 2-3 Green chillies
* 6 Garlic cloves
* 1/2 tsp Ginger paste
* 1/2 tsp Garam masala
* 1/2 tsp Nigella / Kalonji
* 1/4 tsp Turmeric / Haldi
* 1/2 tsp Cumin / Zeera
* 1 tsp Mango powder / Aamchoor
* 1 pinch Asafoetida / Hing
* 1 tbsp Oil
* 2 tbsp Gram flour / Besan

FOR GRAVY

* 1 tbsp Oil
* 1/4 tsp Cumin / Zeera
* 1/4 tsp Nigella / Kalonj
* 3 Medium Onion
* 1/2 tsp Ginger & Garlic Paste each
* 1/2 tsp Turmeric/ Haldi
* 1/2 tsp Red chilli / Lal mirch
* 1 tsp Coriander / Dhania
* 1/2 tsp Garam masala
* 1 Cup Tomato purée
* Salt to taste
* Coriander leaves

Method:-

1. Keep the Green gram soaked in Water for about 4-5 hours with little added Salt to it.
2. Then grind it into a semi thick batter adding Green chillies,Garlic and Ginger.
3. To this batter we will also add Garam masala.Nigella,Turmeric,Cumin,Mango Powder,Asafoetida,Gram flour,Oil and salt to taste.
4. Well mix everything till the batter is airy,
5. Drop half a spoon or spoon full of the batter in hot Oil and fry on medium heat till the Koftas turn golden flipping them upside down in between..
6. Then strain out over paper towel.
7. Now in a non stick pan add Oil,heat the Oil and then add to it Cumin and Nigella.Let them to crackle.
8. Then add chopped Onion,fry till translucent after that add Ginger & Garlic Paste,Turmeric,Red chilli,Coriander and Garam masala.
9. Sauté all of this for a minute on medium heat and then add Tomato purée.along with Salt.
10. Keep the heat to a low and then I add the made koftas.Coat the Koftas with gravy and serve hot.

Tips:-

– Always add the batter in hot Oil,otherwise the Batter will stick to the base of the vessel.
– After adding the spoon of Batter wait for few seconds and then start flipping the koftas upside down.
– If you want gravy style Koftas add 1 Cup water in the made gravy ,give it a boil and then add the made Koftas.
– Add the Koftas in the gravy only when you are about to serve them,otherwise they will soak the water from the gravy.
