If the country word American be removed American chop suey is a Chinese recipe which when reached America became American noodle recipe.



  • 2 packets / cake Maggi noodles
  • 2 cup Water to boil
  • 2 tbsp Corn flour
  • Oil for frying


  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tbsp Corn flour + 1/4 cup Water
  • 1 Onion / Pyaz
  • 1 cup shredded Cabbage / Pata gobhi
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced Capsicum / Shimla mirch
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced Carrot / Gajar
  • 3-4 chopped Garlic cloves / Lasan
  • 1 tsp heaped red chilli paste
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper / Kali mirch
  • 1 tsp Soya sauce
  • 1 tbsp Tomato ketchup
  • 2 tsp Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp chopped Fresh Coriander / Dhaniya OR Celeary
  • 1 cup Water / Pani


  1. Boil water in a vessel and in it add Maggie noodles.
  2. Within two minutes strain out the Maggie noodles out of the water.( be careful that the noodles shouldn’t be too soft like it should be cooked just 70% )
  3. Immediately after taking out the noodles from boiling water pour over it normal water so that the cooking stops.Let the excess water strain out from the noodles and then transfer it to another bowl.
  4. Now sprinkle cornstarch over the noodles giving it a thin coating of the flour.
  5. Immediately after giving flour coating over the noodles drop it in the hot oil to fry. Let the noodles fry over a medium heat flipping upside down till light golden colour and then strain out over a paper towel.
  6. For making veg sauce in hot oil add finely chopped Onion.Saute just for a minute or two.
  7. Keeping heat over high just add cabbage,Carrot,Capsicum,Salt and Garlic.
  8. Here we don’t want the veggies to be soft we want them to be crisp. So we will sauté the veggies over high heat just for two minutes.
  9. Next add Chilli paste,Pepper,Vinegar,Soya sauce and Tomato sauce. Mix everything together and now the veggies are almost 70% cooked.
  10. We will now add water to it. To make the sauce thick in constarch add about 1/4 cup of water making a slurry out of it,then add this to your veg sauce.
  11. Within few seconds of adding corn starch to the source it will come to a boil then just immediately put off your stove adding chopped fresh Coriander.
  12. Drop spoonful of the hot made sauce over the fried noodles and that’s it to serve it.

Tips :-

  • You can even make the recipe using plain Hakka noodles.
  • In boiling the noodles we didn’t add salt to it as instant noodles already have some amount of salt in it.
  • Pouring cold water over the noodles prevents it from sticking.
  • Make the sauce after frying the noodles so that the sauce veggies don’t get too soggy or soft.
  • Don’t over cook the veggies otherwise they will become soggy or soft.
