This is a tasty and healthy evening snack made using easy available ingredients that can be enjoyed by all.These shallow fried Tikki’s can also be baked.

Ingredients :- ( Serves 6-8 )

  • 1 Cup Rice flakes / Poha
  • 2 tbsp Bengal gram / Channa dal paste
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup Spinach / Palak
  • 3/4 cup Bread crumb
  • 1 cup chopped Spinach / Palak
  • 1/2- 1 tsp Chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp Ginger paste / Adrakh
  • 1 tsp Dry mango powder / Aamchur
  • 1 tsp Chaat masala
  • 1/2 tsp Fenugreek powder / Mathi
  • 1/2 tsp Carom / Ajwain
  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder / Dhaniya
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin powder / Zeera
  • Oil for frying


  1. Thoroughly rinse Poha couple of times and then strain out the excess water.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of bread crumb along with all the other ingredients except Oil to form a dough.
  3. Pinch out small portions of the dough to form tikki or patties in your desired shape.
  4. Heat 2-4 teaspoons of Oil and shallow fry tikki in a open pan till golden crispy.
  5. Serve with sauce or chutney.

Tips :-

  • Pressure cook dal until soft and then mash it to make paste.
  • Apply little Oil over your palm if the dough sticks.
  • For coating Tikki’s/ Patties instead of bread crumb you can also use rice flakes.
