Makki ki roti is incomplete without the mention of Sarson ka saag an incredible delicious combination.Here we are starting front basic and making the roti .

Ingredients :- ( Serves 4 )

  • 2 cup Corn meal  or Maze flour / Makki atta
  • 2 tsp powdered Sugar or Jaggery
  • 1/4 tsp Salt ( Optional )
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1/4 cup Clarified butter / Desi ghee


  1. In a bowl add sugar or Jaggery to the makki flour adding salt or omit out salt
  2. Then add Oil and mix.
  3. Knead flour using lukewarm water as much required to make a soft dough.
  4. Pinch out into four equal sized balls.
  5. Roll out into a half inch thick roti.
  6. Drop over a hot Griddle /Tawa and roast on medium till brown spots on both sides adding couple of teaspoons of Oil or Ghee on both sides.

Tips :-

  • Instead of Clarified butter you can even use any other Oil.
  • Keep on punching the dough for about 5 minutes to make it soft.
