Sweet n sour Tamarind / Imli chutney is a special and an important part of lots of Indian savoury snacks and chaat.Lets make it in our own pure homely style.

Ingredients:-  ( Serve 250 gm )

  • 1 cup or 120 gm Tamarind pulp / Imli
  • 3/4 cup broken Jaggery / Gud
  • 1/2 cup or 15 Wet dates / Khajoor
  • 1 tbsp Raisin / Kishmish
  • 1/4 tsp Salt / Namak
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin powder / Zeera
  • 1/4 tsp Dry Ginger powder / Saunth
  • 1/2 tsp Fennel powder / Saunf
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri Red chilli powder / Lal mirch

Method :-

  1. Soak Tamarind in about 3 cups of hot boiled Water till it’s soft or you are able touch it to squeeze pulp.
  2. Strain out the thick pulp water and discard impurities.
  3. Melt Jaggery adding deseeded dates.
  4. Add Tamarind water and when it comes to a boil put heat to a low.
  5. Add all the remaining ingredients and continue boiling till Imli chutney sticks to your spatula.
  6. Cool and store in a glass bottle.

Tips :-

  • You can keep Imli chutney stored in refrigerate for a month.
