This Tomato chutney is a Bengali special sweet dish recipe served after food hot.Instead of Tomatoes you can use any other fruit but the basic recipe will remain the same.

Ingredients 🙁 Serves 4 )

  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds / Zeera
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard / Rai
  • 1/2 tsp Fennel seeds / Saunf
  • A pinch Red chilli powder
  • 500 gm Tomatoes
  • 3 cup Water
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Ginger / Adrakh paste
  • 1 cup fresh Dates / Khajur
  • 1 tbsp grated Coconut
  • 1 tbsp Raisins / Kishmish
  • 1 cup Sugar

Method:-

  1. In hot Oil add whole spices and let them to crackle on low for few seconds.
  2. Then add Kashmiri Red chilli powder.and immediately add finely chopped Tomatoes.
  3. Long with it add Salt and Water.
  4. Cover and let it cook on medium for 15 min or till Tomatoes get tender.
  5. Remove lid add Ginger paste.
  6. Mix and mash the Tomatoes using a crusher.
  7. Then add fresh unseeded Dates,grated Coconut,Raisin.and Sugar.
  8. It will take about 5 min for the Sugar to dissolve and blend in Tomato over a medium heat.
  9. Tomato chutney is ready.Serve hot as a sweet dish after food.

Tips :-

  • You can even use Bengali Panch poran spices.
