Idli is a famous recipe from south India made using rice and black gram / urad dal.idli can be a healthy breakfast recipe for even weight loss.
Ingredients :- ( Serves 36 )
- 1 cup Rice / Chawal
- 1+1/2 cup Split Black Gram / Urad dal
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Onion seeds / Kalonji
- 1/2 – 1 tsp Chilli paste
- Oil to grease
Method:-
- Thoroughly rinse rice & dal one to two times and keep them separately soaked in about 2 cups of water for about 4 hours.
- Grind dal and rice to get a thick.
- Mix both the batters together and keep it to ferment for about 8 hours or overnight.
- After 8 hours beat the batter to make it airy adding salt,chilli and Onion seeds.
- Keep about two cups of water to boil in electric cooker or pressure cooker.Add the batter to greased idli mould.
- Place the moulds in cooker and let it to steam for about 12 min.
- Cool and de mould to serve with Sambar rasam & coconut chutney.
Tips :-
- While making ildli in pressure cooker remove the whistle and rubber tube.keep heat over medium.
